The first regular meeting of the CASNR Student Council was called to order on August 31. The main focus of this meeting was the Club Fair, which is to be held on September 20 from 10:00 to 3:00 in the Hollingsworth Auditorium. This event was planned in order to introduce new students to the various opportunities for involvement on campus. At the Club Fair, different organizations will set up displays to provide students with information, and representatives will be on hand to answer any questions. To ensure more participation, Ella Brown, Johnny Barnes, Lisa White, Clay Davis, Susan Conlon, Russell Goodman, and Julie Pedigo volunteered to attend introductory classes in each of the CASNR departments and invite students to the Club Fair. Next on the agenda were the Student Council t-shirts. Chad Christman and Monette Vessell had met and discussed potential companies and designs. They found that green shirts with orange writing could be purchased for $8.50. On the front of the shirts is the UT logo with the words CASNR Student Council. The Council also voted to list the departments within the college on the back of the shirts. Also at the meeting, Nick West announced that CASNR Report news will be due on September 14. This information can be sent to nwest2@utk.edu or placed in the box in the dean's office. Ella Brown reminded council members that Student of the Month nominations should be emailed to her at ebrown7@utk.edu by September 8 by 5:00. Before the meeting adjourned, the next CASNR Student Council meeting was set for September 21 at 5:00. A group photograph will be taken at this time.
