The CASNR Student Council held its first meeting for the 2001-2002 school year on Thursday, August 30, 2001.  The meeting was called to order by Lisa White, President.  Members of the executive council and persons holding appointed positions were introduced.

            The council was reminded that articles for the CASNR Report were due on the second Thursday of each month, and that nominees for Student of the Month are due by midnight on the second Monday of each month, in the form of a Microsoft Word attachment sent to ebrown7@utk.edu.  Council members were also informed that if they had announcements for the Daily Beacon, that they could be submitted to the Public Relations Chairpersons who, in turn, would submit the articles to the Beacon.  Council members were also reminded that if they wanted the Beacon to cover any event, to contact the newspaper office in advance to schedule a reporter and/or photographer.

            The CASNR Club Fair was the next item of business for the night.  The Club Fair will be held on September 12 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in the Brehm Animal Science Arena.  Clubs are expected to report to the arena at 9:00 am to set up their booths.

            The council discussed purchasing t-shirts to wear at official CASNR functions.  TJ Wilson, Glenn LaFollette, and Gary Jenkins volunteered to serve as a committee to look into t-shirt designs and prices.

            The CASNR philanthropy was discussed, with the council tentatively agreeing to do a service project with the Boys’ and Girls’ Club.

            Seeing no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
