August 26, 2000 Outline of the goals discussed at Retreat. I. We want to become more visible on campus. This year our council is going to get Student Council t-shirts that we can all wear for special events. Chad and Monette have volunteered to check on prices. We wanted to start a web page with a picture of all of us and our names. We also wanted to post meetings and other important dates on this page. Dr. Hart and Dr. Delnero are going to help us get this page started. We talked about putting a picture of the council members in the CASNR Report. II. We want to let new students know about the activities offered through the college. We decided to organize a Club Fair so that incoming freshmen and transfer students can learn more about the different organizations on campus. This fair is tentatively set for September 13 or 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Each club will be responsible for setting up a table in Hollingsworth Auditorium. Also, student council representatives will go to introductory classes (ANR 101, Food Science 140, etc.) and invite students to come to the fair. Another idea was to ask professors to offer extra credit to students who attend. Clay and Monette volunteered to promote this event, but more volunteers are needed. III. We want to encourage our college to become more active in the community. We discussed starting a campus-wide food drive for the holidays. As an incentive for participation, we wanted to have a competition between the clubs with an award presented at the end of the year. We also talked about hosting a Christmas party for local Boys and Girls Clubs. Our next meeting is scheduled for August 31 at 5:00. We are planning to take group pictures and finalize plans for the Club Fair. Hope to see you there! Lydia White, Secretary
