September 21, 2000 The CASNR Student Council met on September 21 with one of the first acts of business being to appoint another Open House co-chairman. Nominations for this opening were accepted, and Clay Davis was chosen for this position. Charlie Young, who is also heading this event, announced that each club needed to submit the name and email address of the club's Open House representative. The open position on the SGA Undergraduate Academic Council was addressed next. Johnny Barnes was elected to serve as the Student Council's representative on UAC. The final topic discussed at the meeting was the campus-wide service project, which was voted on as being a Christmas party for local Boys and Girls clubs. The date for this event was set as December 5 from 4:30 to 6:30 in Brehm Animal Science Arena. Approximately 100 children in the first through third grades are expected to attend this activity. The Council decided to divide the arena into four different stations: a Petting Zoo, Crafts, Games, and Refreshments. The Forestry Club volunteered to supply a Christmas tree to decorate the middle of the arena, and the Animal Science Clubs agreed to provide animals for the Petting Zoo. The Food Science Club, MANRRS, and SAES volunteered to provide cookies and materials to decorate the cookies. The Wildlife and Fisheries Society, Collegiate 4-H Club, and Alpha Gamma Rho decided to be in charge of the craft station. The Ag Business Club, Sigma Alpha, and ASAE signed up to help with the games. A Christmas Party Workshop was scheduled for October 5 at 5:30. Each club needs to send a representative to this meeting. Other important dates to remember are September 23, which is Varsity Visit.
CASNR Student Council members need to meet at 9:45 in Plant and Soil Sciences,
Room 124 to serve as tour guides. October 18 and 19 is the Career Fair, and CASNR
Report information needs to be in by October 12.
