CASNR Student Advisory Council Meeting Minutes September
18, 2003 Emily Gray spoke about the upcoming career fair. It will be held October 8th in Hollingsworth and October 9th will be for interviews. The interviews will be held in Dunford Hall on main campus. Gray urged students to visit the career services website and to participate in the career fair. Carol White spoke about the issue of having a Christmas party. It was opened for discussion. Other suggestions were made such as a food or clothing drive. White spoke of needing more participation and club involvement to make the party a successful one. A five dollar limit was suggested by Dr. Hart for the Christmas gifts. White said she would bring a sign up sheet to next meeting and if it was not full by adjournment there would be no Christmas party. Motion to accept Christmas party was made by Clint Shipper and Leonard Bass seconded the motion. Club voted to have a Christmas party if sign up sheet was full by adjournment of next meeting. Dr. Britt addressed several issues with the bus system and
announced the new Ag Campus express route that will be in effect Dr. Britt spoke about the recent scandals surrounding previous president Shumaker. He commented on current president Johnson saying that he supported Johnson and thinks he will do a great job correcting the problems. He also noted that UT accepted a high standard of freshman and is moving ahead. CASNR CASNR has more scholarship money than any other Ag school in the 13 southern states Dr. Britt mentioned when speaking of the high quality of the College of Agriculture at UT. UT spent 40 million dollars in the past five years on buildings. UTK will be the future home of the finest turf-grass management program in the nation. He urged students to go back to their hometowns and recruit students. Tell people how great CASNR is at UTK. He then opened for discussion any concerns students may have. Ag Day Dr. Hart spoke about Ag Day on Amy Willis revealed the t-shirt design and announced that they will be ordered soon. Amy Willis said that the UT Bookstore was still interested in placing an annex on the ag campus but needed more feedback. Each club needs to write a resolution in support and send it to Amy so she can forward them to the bookstore. Dr. Hart suggested drafting a resolution and having each club sign it in the respect to time. Amy Willis said she would draft a resolution and send it out. Ag Day – Sept 27th Career Fair – Oct 8th and 9th Varsity Visit – Nov 15th
