CASNR Student Advisory Council Meeting Minutes
October 18, 2007

Meeting called to order at 5:33 p.m. by President Leann Little

Membership attendance was taken by representatives signing a roll sheet

Minutes from the previous meeting were unavailable for discussion

New Business:

CASNR Scholarship and Awards Banquet

Dr. Albrecht announced that nominations are due February 15, 2008.  Nomination packets can be accessible from the CASNR website:  http://casnr.tennessee.edu/facultystaff/College_Awards_v082007.pdf

Council members were asked to announce nomination deadlines, procedures, and guidelines to their respective clubs/organizations

CASNR Recruiter Position

Eighteen applications have been received to date

Food Science and Technology

Traffic and Parking

Student council representative, Johnathan Walls, attended the UT Traffic and Parking Authority committee meeting on September 25, 2008.  He reported that the traffic light at the intersection of Joe Johnson Blvd. and E. J. Chapman might be removed or operated as a four-way stop for safety issues.  He also indicated that crosswalks located at non-street intersections may be moved due to safety considerations.

Dr. Hart is investigating ways to have a CASNR student council member appointed to the committee.

Ag Express

Council members indicated that extended hours were working well.

Card Swipe Entry System for Plant Sciences Annex Building (OHLD design lab)

Dr. Albrecht will continue researching the feasibility of installing an ID swipe card system on exteriors doors for access to the OHLD design lab.

Security

Additional blue phones will be installed on campus

Students are asked to report any suspicious behavior on campus to the appropriate authorities.

Student Activities

Biosystems Engineering students recently participated in the College of Engineering’s Engineers Day Competition.  Results will be announced at a later date.
