CASNR Student Advisory Council Meeting Minutes

February 17, 2005

President Carol White called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.

Roll Call was taken by Jessica Huffman.

Old Business

Meeting

New meeting time!  Meetings will begin at 5:30pm.  Carol has reserved room 157 in Plant Biotech for the rest of the year.

Welcome

Welcome to Student Council, Angelike!  Angelike Angelopoulos is our new Open House Chair.  Her email is aangelop@utk.edu.  If you have any suggestions or questions about Open House, please email Angelike or Carol.

New Business

Open House

Open House is going to be held April 8-9, 2005 in Brehm Animal Science arena and Hollingsworth auditorium.  The last Open House meeting was all about brainstorming and letting the ideas flow.  The prospective theme/ motto this year will be “Better Science, Better Lives.”  The next Open House meeting is February 24th at 5:30 in room 125 Ellington Plant and Soil Sciences.

Award Nominations

Nomination forms can be found on the Student Council webpage.  The CASNR Award Banquet needs to have nominations in for Outstanding Teacher, Outstanding Staff, Outstanding Advisor, and Outstanding Students by February 25th.  Please select a freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior for the Outstanding Student.  The nomination forms can be located on the CASNR website and turned into the Deans office.  If any questions, email Rachel Moseley at rmoseley@utk.edu.

Bus Issues

Student Council would like to see the bus hours of the AG Express extended from 8:30am-4pm. 

Parking Issues

With all of the parking lots being congested and full recently, it was suggested to have a “ticket writer” come next week.

Student Organization Workshops

Building a Better Bridge: “A Guide to Working Effectively in Groups” scheduled for Saturday, February 26 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in Room 160 of the Plant Biotech Building has been CANCELLED and will be rescheduled for the Fall Semester...

Wildlife Game Dinner: February 25th, 2005 6pm in Hollingsworth Auditorium.

When else will you get the chance to eat bear, turkey, fish, rabbit, gator while getting the chance to win putt-putt golf, t-shirts, guided fishing trips or artwork in an auction???

Everyone welcome!!

 “Date with your Dog”: March 12, 2005 in the Brehm Animal Science Arena sponsored by the Pre-Vet Association.  $5 per dog. There will be prizes and games.

 Ambassador Applications are due March 18th.  You can find the application on the Ambassador Website.  Thanks to the Ambassadors and Sandella incoming freshman are up 40% from last year and 70% for two years before.  Thanks for all your hard work!!

 CASNR Awards Banquet: April 5th, 2005

Carol White moved to adjourn.  It was seconded and passed.  Meeting was adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
