CASNR Student Advisory Council Meeting Minutes

September 16, 2004   

President Carol White called the meeting to order at 6:35pm in the Plant Biotech building, room 160.

There are limitations to the CASNR web page.  The structure above the “orange

line” cannot be changed, however the color and items available can.

            Improvement Suggestions:

            -Faculty Directory

                        ex. AZ index

            -Correct club/organization information

(go to Hilltopics  and it will guide you through on changing club information.)

            -Calendar for events, luncheons, etc to lessen the ListServ emails

                        (PR Chair will be responsible for keeping calendar info up to date)

-More assessable links to Graduate School information

            -Remove old/past dated material

Appointed Positions: Carol White

Next week the Student Council executive committee will be making appointments to meet the persons applying for appointed positions.

Election of Officers: Carol White

Emily Curtis formally stepped down from her office as Vice President due to the Student Council Bylaws stating “ Representatives to Council from agricultural organizations shall be students that are elected by their organization and shall hold that office of Council Representative within that organization. Jessica Smith resigned from her office of Member-at-Large to be considered as Vice President.  She is now Student Council’s new Vice-President.  Philip Campbell was elected to Member-at-Large.

By-Law Revision: Dean Albrecht

The revisions were read at today’s meeting however we will be voting on the revisions next meeting.  Please mention the revisions to your organizations.  If you have any additions or corrections, email Carol White, cwhite10@utk.edu

Fall Harvest: Amy Willis

Fall Harvest will be instead of the X-mas Party for the Boys and Girls Clubs sometime at the end of October.  Amy needs a representative from each club to help her out.  You can email her at awillis2@utk.edu

 

Announcements:

-Next meeting: October 21, 2004 at 6:30 in Plant Biotech, Room 160

 -Ag Day/ Varsity Visit: September 25th

 -CASNR Career Fair: October 6th

            -Interviews on October 7th

 -President’s Round Table: There is a registration drive between UGA and UT.  From Sept 27th-Oct 1st you can register.  Encourage you to register and vote!!  A representative will come to your club if you are interested. Contact Kristy Bogel at Kristi@utk.edu.  In order for you registration to count, this must be the first time you have every registered or a new address.

 -Its that time of the year again for Sigma Alpha’s Men Of the Ag Campus Calendar.  Nominations will be taking place in a week.

 -“Lend a Hand, Buy a Band” is to help the victims of Gainesville , Fl.  They are selling orange wristbands for a dollar through out main campus.  All the proceeds will be presented at the UT vs. Florida game.

 -Congratulations Carol White on making the top 5 for Homecoming Queen!

 -Meeting was adjourned at 7:24 p.m.
