CASNR Student Advisory Council Meeting Minutes
November 16, 2006

Meeting called to order at 5:30 p.m. by President Michael Petty.

Membership attendance was taken by representatives signing a roll sheet.

Open House

Open House is currently planned for March 30th and 31st. These dates are tentative and may change to the previous week due to third year exams – official dates should be available by the end of the semester

In recent years there haven’t been adequate numbers of booths – clubs and organizations need to be thinking of ways to represent themselves.

Questions can be directed to AOH Chair Holly Lyons or to Dr. Hart.

Dean Search

The dean search is still going on. Information can be found on the Dean Search website at http://www.casnr.utk.edu/deansearch/ . Something definite should be decided by January.

Thompson Boling Arena and Commencement

Fall commencement is scheduled for Sunday, December 17th at 3:00 p.m.

After basketball season, Thompson Boling will be closed for alterations to arena seating. Because of this it will not host any University-wide activities, including spring commencement- there will only be ceremonies for each college scattered around town.

CASNR spring commencement will be at the Convention Center the weekend of May 11th – more details will be out by next semester.

Undergraduates graduating in summer will be allowed to walk in the springtime, although official graduation isn’t until August.

Graduates finishing in summer cannot walk in spring and will have to come back for a December hooding ceremony.

Student IDs

The registrar’s office will be changing all student ID numbers to non-social security numbers in the next couple of weeks.

Students whose ID number is still their SSN will be notified of their new number by both e-mail and snail mail.

This is part of an effort to minimize printing of SSN throughout the University to help prevent identity theft.

Taking your student ID in to receive a replacement is free and may or may not be mandatory.

Students still under the SSN coding should check CPO and make sure their permanent address listing is correct to receive the notification letter.

Both the new ID number and SSN should still work within the system.

Outstanding Officer Positions

The following positions were elected as follows:

Awards Chair: Katie Rogers

Undergraduate Advisory Council Delegate: Nathan Oliver

Public Relations Chair (external) – Mark Syler

Public Relations Chair (within CASNR) – Stuart Wilson
