Wilkerson Receives TAES Research Impact Award

John Wilkerson was recognized for having a profound impact on improving the efficiency, sustainability and/or economic viability of the food and fiber industry for his work on the development of a cotton flow rate sensor. The sensor has been patented and is now in commercial production.

His team developed this sensor as an integral part of a cotton yield mapping system that is now commercially available in the United States, Australia, and Brazil. Yield maps are an integral part of precision farming where producers use advanced technologies to make site-specific management decisions that result in increased profitability.
