Mr. Seth Rye was named the Biosystems Engineering & Soil Science Department's Distinguished Alumnus for 2011 at the annual BESS Awards Banquet held on campus April 18. Mr. Rye is a 1998 graduate of UT with a BS in Agricultural Engineering as well as a 2000 UT graduate with an MS in Biosystems Engineering. In 2006, Mr. Rye acquired his JD from the Nashville School of Law. Currently Mr. Rye is licensed as a Professional Engineer, TDEC Water Distributor Operator, and an Attorney all in Tennessee.
Following graduation, Mr. Rye gained experience in the field of water distribution system planning, analysis, and design. As owner of Rye Engineering, Seth routinely plays the roles of engineer, designer, master planner, hydraulic modeler, easement negotiator, and water distribution operator (and others as necessary). Mr. Rye is personally involved in every phase of a project including the highly technical aspects of hydraulic modeling and the conceptual aspects involved in master planning. Additionally, Mr. Rye employs his skills as an attorney to navigate through any necessary regulatory issues that arise during the implementation of a project.
