Edwin Burdette, 2001 Distinguished Alumnus



Edwin G. Burdette received a B. S. in Agricultural Engineering at The University of Tennessee in 1957. He went on to obtain a M.S. degree in Civil Engineering from UTK and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at the University of Illinois, both degrees in structures. Since receiving his Ph.D. in 1969, he has taught and done research at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Since 1981, he has held the Fred N. Peebles Professorship in Civil Engineering. During his long career at UTK, he has received a number of honors including his selection as University Macebearer for 1990-91. In 1994, a fellowship in his name was endowed by former students in structural engineering. He is married to the former Patsy Hill of Paris, Tennessee and they have five children.
