2009 Regional Soil Judging Competition

The department hosted the 2009 Southeast Regional Soil Judging Competition during the week of October 13, 2009 in Crossville under the expert guidance of Dr. Tom Ammons and undergraduates Brent Worley, Jimmy Greenway, Jacob Watson, Carrie Morgan, Stephen Holland and Kyley Dickson from the UT Plant, Soil, and Environmental Science Club and UT soil judging team along with graduate students James Hartsig, Andrew Sherfy, Ryan Blair, Cassi Jones, and Brian Lester. They were assisted by NRCS volunteers in preparing and scoring the event. As the host university, our team was not eligble to compete, but The University of Tennessee at Martin did place sixth in the competition. Event organizers wish to express their sincere gratitude to Walt Hitch, Director of the Plateau Research & Education Center for his special cooperation in preparing the contest site(s).
