Hilton Smith Fellowship for Patrick Dobbs



Patrick Dobbs, an ENGAGE Engineering Teaching Assistant, has been awarded a Hilton A. Smith Graduate Fellowship based on the nomination of the Biosystems Engineering & Soil Science department. The Fellowship is a merit award to graduate students who will be engaged in full-time graduate study; it includes tuition and maintenance fees, and a stipend of $15,000.

Dr. Hilton Smith was a chemistry professor at UT, and dean of the Graduate School. He was widely recognized for his research on hydrogen isotopes, and was the first to isolate tritium, a form of hydrogen, used as a low-cost radioactive isotope.
