8th Annual TN 4-H Electric Camp Held

The 8th annual Tennessee 4-H Electric Camp was held June 29-July 2 on the Knoxville campus of The University of Tennessee. The 253 campers in attendance explored the world of energy, electricity and the basic sciences through fun-filled, hands-on learning experiences.

Six topics were featured in the learning centers this year:

Exploring electronics
Electrical safety
Electric vehicles
Electric motors
Cooking in the 21st century
Electrical safety ad design
In addition to the subject-matter learning centers, Electric Camp featured recreational activities on the UT campus and a trip to Dollywood. Campers also traveled to Oak Ridge to visit the Museum of Science and Energy, ride a train through the "Secret City" and attend the Robert Krampf Electric Show.

Electric Camp is sponsored jointly by The University of Tennessee Agricultural Extension Service, the Tennessee Electric Cooperatives Association, the Tennessee Valley Authority and Tennessee municipal power suppliers.

The Camp's learning centers were held in and around the UT Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Department; and several members of the Department assisted in conducting the centers.
