Luther R. Wilhelm, Ph. D., currently serves as Interim Associate Dean of the College of Engineering at UT. Prior to assuming this post, Dr. Wilhelm was a Professor in the Biosystems Engineering & Environmental Science Department, serving for a time as Interim Department Head. In 2002 he was
named a Fellow in ASAE.
The dedication Dr. Wilhelm has shown to his students is evident from a selected list of his honors and awards, including: UT CASNR W.F. and Golda Moss Outstanding Teaching Award, 1993; UT CASNR Neal and Tacie Peacock Teaching/Learning Merit Certificate, 1993; UTIA B. Ray Thompson, Sr. Award for Outstanding Faculty Performance, 1994; and UTK Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Advising, 1996.
Dr. Wilhelm received his bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering, and his master's and doctoral degrees in Mechanical Engineering, all from The University of Tennessee, in 1960, 1968, and 1971. He has worked in many areas of Engineering and has expertise in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat and mass transfer. A native of Camden, Tennessee, Luther and his wife now reside in Rockford, Tennessee.
