Daniel is internationally recognized for his contributions to erosion science and soil conservation -- and is the recipient of eight national awards. He was the creative force on the team that developed the ENGAGE program for freshman engineering students that has increased the retention rate for sophomores.
He is a leader in the development of the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation program, the erosion prediction model of choice throughout the US and in at least 20 other countries. The excellence of his work on this and many other efforts is recognized with the Whatley Award.
