ADA Publications and Accessibility Guides:

Access Board Publications website - The Access Board is an independent Federal agency devoted to accessibility for people with disabilities. It operates with about 30 staff and a governing board of representatives from Federal departments and public members appointed by the President. Key responsibilities of the Board include: developing and maintaining accessibility requirements for the built environment, transit vehicles, telecommunications equipment, and for electronic and information technology; providing technical assistance and training on these guidelines and standards; and enforcing accessibility standards for federally funded facilities

ADA Document Portal - The US Dept of Education maintains this website with about 3,400 documents organized into 10 categories.  You can find the text of the Americans with Disabilities Act, plus many helpful documents and accessibility guides to help you improve accessibility of your business and community.  Use the links in the left column of the Portal site to browse to the individual categories and documents in the collection.

Agriculture Specific Information:

UT Agricultural Extension Service:
  • Adaptive Controls for Farm Machinery - an overview of the types of modifications that might be suitable for persons with certain disabilities.  CAUTION:  Because modifications to controls have inherent risks and can contribute to mishaps if they do not function as intended, always seek the advice and services of a qualified rehabilitation engineer or other professional when planning, fabricating, and installing modifications on any equipment.

Resources at the National AgrAbility Project website:
  • Assistive Technologies - both assistive and adaptive devices, which may be either high or low technology, and various services such as evaluations, fabrication and training. Examples of high through low technology assistive devices which farmers and ranchers with disabilities might find beneficial, could range from mounted chair lifts to easy grip hand tools respectively.
